A Quiet Tuesday at Migele Experience

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:10 pm

What a quiet day it’s been for a Tuesday and it’s not because we were short of clients it’s because we were down 4 stylists in our Tolbooth Street salon!

Certainly Jen was on holiday but the other 3 were out on assignments, which will ultimately benefit the whole team.

You see Liza and Amber were in London.

Liza Cumming was presenting to an audience
of invited hairdressers at the L’Oreal International Academy.

Amber Bell is making her way home today, Wednesday; she was part of the team who were styling the hair for the London Graduate Show at Wembley.

I’ll update you on their experiences on their return.

Oh and I almost forgot. Megan Dales and Denise Sharp from the Whytehouse salon are on the second stage of their Kerastase Ambassador course. They’ve returned today, Wednesday, and I need to calm them down, they are buzzin’.
So if anyone out there has a hair or scalp problem pop in and see them and they’ll be happy to give you a FREE scalp and hair analysis.

Megan’s at Tolbooth and Denise is at Whytehouse.

I’ll get back to you with more information once I’ve sat down with them all ,and I’ll let them spill the beans and report back to all of you in the ‘Migele Experience’ community.

Shampooing Your Hair

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:47 pm

It may seem like such a trivial thing but shampooing your hair correctly can make the difference between hair that shines and hair that just hangs there.

In the first of our video blogs, Dom explains the  insider secrets to a good shampoo.

Are You A Facebook Fan?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:44 am

Are you on Facebook?

I’ve just read a startling statistic that suggests that more than 1 in 3 people in the UK are on Facebook, which is really quite incredible.

Migele Experience has had our Facebook page up and running for a couple of months now and therefore we are relative newcomers yet we’ve established a fairly impressive number of fans considering we have never publicised the page at all.

I suppose that it demonstrates the power of the system.

If I’m really honest I struggled to figure out how it would help our customers. Sure we could show our gallery of pictures. Yes we could get to hear some nice things about our stylists. Yes we could share our latest news.

But is that enough?

We have spent a considerable amount of time looking at how we can extend the Migele Experience to Facebook and we believe we’ve found a way.

Not only are we going to promote exclusive offers to our Facebook fans, we’re also looking at providing hair care and styling tips.

Real hairstyles for real people

But the most exciting feature of our Fans page will be our transformations section where we’ll be showing how real people have transformed their look by changing their hair style.

And best of all, we’ll be selecting one Facebook fan who will receive a FREE transformation session with yours truly.

So what are you waiting for?

Get onto Facebook now and become a fan. Then tell all your family and friends about the Migele Experience Transformation promotion and urge them to sign up as a fan.

Here’s to looking great

Review - Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:08 pm

Product: Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Smoothing Shampoo, Smoothing Conditioner and Defining Cream
Tester: Kate Shannon

Verdict: My fine, wavy hair needs a bit of help to form sensible looking curls and I found this range of products did the trick. The shampoo and conditioner are both lovely and left my hair feeling soft and manageable, while the defining cream helped to keep my hair looking curly throughout the day.

They smelled great too.

I believe these products would be equally as successful on really curly hair and there are lots of other products in the range if your hair is thicker or dry.

Mark out of five: 5

If you have used the Bumble and bumble curl conscious range we would love to hear your views and comments

Why Buy Quality Hair Products

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:30 pm

Funny how simple things get you thinking.

Yesterday morning, as normal, I was having a shower at the gym after a great workout.

Now normally if I was having a shower at home I’d use a soap but it has to be a quality brand, something that smacks of luxury, something that feels good, smells good, works and is easy to use, Clinique, Joe Malone, Liz Earle. Okay I admit it, I’m a product junkie. But I’m absolutely bald so it’s some time since I’ve had the buzz of buying and using hair products, on myself at least.( bumble and bumble seaweed when I have a 12 o’clock scalp shadow)

Anyway I’d been to Boots buying some razor blades; unfortunately razor blades are a bit like toothpastes you don’t get the same buzz that you get from buying perfume, after shave or great products for your hair or skin.

Whilst making my buying decision I thought soap’s a hassle at the gym, a bit messy.  I reckon I need a shower gel. I tried to look for the best gel, the most concentrated, maybe even the most expensive. But guess what? They didn’t have anything that fitted the bill so I bought the best of a bad lot.

I didn’t get any positive feelings, I didn’t look forward to the first time I’d use it, as you do with a styling product or a perfume.

Buying that shower gel wouldn’t satisfy the urges of a shopaholic but it might serve the purpose. It would be interesting to see how it would perform.

What was I looking for in a shower gel?  I wanted something that has a sensation, that would make me feel clean and refreshed and it had to smell good. I suppose something that produced lots of lather yet was concentrated. That must be my criteria for a great shower gel.

I was disappointed when I discovered that I needed lots of product to get a little lather. The fragrance was nonexistent and therefore no great feelings, I wish I’d never bought it!

I caught myself having these thoughts and feelings because it made me wonder how our clients, YOU would feel when buying shampoos and styling products.

In the course of a day I want to experience as many positive feelings and thoughts as is humanely possible and if having great products is one of them then why not?

My clients give me feedback on products every single day and tell me that they love using products or it’s got a great fragrance or “it gives my hair lots of body” or “my hair’s so much easier when I use that.”

That’s what great products do they make life easier, there less expensive in the long run, they give pleasure, make us feel good and are state of the art.

The very best available, surely that’s what we should have and nothing less!

At the end of the day there are two reasons that people buy hair products from a chemist or supermarket:
1 That’s where they’ve always bought it.
2 That’s where you can buy cheaper products.

Not a good enough reason for me particularly when I miss out on the more important benefits.

Ask your stylist for a hair and scalp analysis and prescription on your next visit, you’ll be really glad you did.

Return from your Hair Salon

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:24 pm

I love reading books especially books about how I can improve the service we provide our clients. In the book I am reading currently it was discussing the importance of Return on Investment - or ROI as they called it.  Now I know that is a real business term probably used more by accountants but it made me wonder how and if we were offering  our clients  a return on  the  investment  they are making in their hair.

So what is the ROI we provide our clients?   I asked our team at our recent Buzz meeting and these are some of the the things that they came up with:

1.Hair that’s EASY to manage at home because it’s cut so well and is in great condition

2  An opportunity to enjoy a great experience by escaping  from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

3 An investment in your image irrespective whether you are a career person or you just like to look good.

4  We  give you advice on  the right hair care  products you should use  for your hair type and how to use them.

5  We give you great advice on how to style your hair to ensure your hair continues to look as great as it did when you leave the salon

6  We know our clients and appreciate the fact that you are a regular client.

7 Throughout your visit only the finest products are used on your hair ensuring that you can truly indulge yourself.

8 We listen to your needs and aim to provide you with solutions to your hair

The question I would ask you is “Do you always get such a great Return on Investment on the other transactions you make in a day?”

The Return of the Curl?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:45 am

There has been much written and talked about in recent months about the ‘Return of the Perm.’ Apparently this has been fuelled by the TV programme ‘Ashes to Ashes ‘.

Do I think the perm will return?

They say that Superdrug has reported an increase in Home perm lotions, if that’s true I guess that once the people who bought these perms take them home and attempt to give themselves a perm or perhaps ask their friend who happens to work in a call center or is a dental receptionists to administer the process, they will never put perm lotion near their hair again.

You see for a trend to take hold it has to be led by a celebrity, rock star or model and as yet no one who has that influence has taken the plunge.

On the other hand Victoria Beckham was on the front cover of the April issue of Vogue with beautiful soft waves and she looked absolutely gorgeous, reminiscent of a Hollywood film star from the 40s. Very tasteful. However, It’s not a perm that’s responsible for her look. She has not committed to a permanent curl and why should she?

No, my view is that the positive thing to come out of all of this is the interest created in curl and movement, and in new textures.

That can only be good for you the client and for hairdressers as it gives us a greater choice in our styling options, but there’s no need to commit to permanent curls.

Try the array of curl inducing products that are on the market such as Kerastase Oleo Curl or the Curl Conscious range from Bumble and Bumble - both incredible product ranges that really work.

And if you feel that you can’t live without your curls then by all means find a salon and have it professionally done with waves and support not tight tight curl.

Don’t try doing it at home; you’ll live to regret it!

However I think you’d rather have versatility sometimes straight sometimes smooth and sometimes curls or waves.

Variety is the spice of life after all.

I’d suggest having a consultation if you are considering a perm, as you have to consider condition, texture and length of your hair.

Why not call us or pop in for a free consultation all of our team is on hand to give you expert advice.

Looking Great This Summer

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:57 pm

Summer is that time of year that everyone longs for with idyllic dreams of sun, sand and sangria.

However after those lazy days working on your tan, clients often spend their summer nights with frazzled hair that is dry, brittle and just dull, dull, dull.

Whatever your hair type, the summer sun will have a damaging effect on your hair in the same way it does on your skin. For those that have colour, the effects can be much worse.

Everyone is extremely cautious about protecting you skin from the harmful rays of the sun but why shouldn’t you protect your hair as well?

The Kerastase Soleil range must be an essential part of your toiletry bag and we are here to help you to choose the right products for your hair.

Whilst your skin is darkening, your hair is lightening, both signs of damage.
Protect with either ‘Crème UV Defense Active’ if you’re a swimmer, a multi- protection cream with a shine polymer and two UV filters for reinforced sun protection.

Alternatively you can use New Voile Protecteur, a fine spray formula which actively protects hair against the damaging effects of sun, sea and chlorine.

Use ’ Bain Apres- Soleil’ a hair bath specially formulated to act as a fast and effective refresher which is designed for frequent shampooing and will eliminate the build up of salt, sand and chlorine to repair and moisten.

Then Treat with ‘Masque UV Defense Active’ an after- sun treatment to intelligently repair the most damaged sections. Think of this as your after- sun skin care cream.

Hot Tip: Ensure you shampoo your hair immediately after it’s been exposed to chlorine or salt water as it will become more damaging once it dries into the hair, causing lightening of colour and playing havoc with hairs’ elasticity.

And remember these products aren’t just for your two week holiday period, they’re a must all summer long.
